Iam a passionate mental health advocate, counselor, and community leader dedicated to transforming lives among vulnerable populations. I'm currently serving as a Project Coordinator and Counselor at Rehema Rescue Community-Based Organization, where I leads programs that create safe, supportive spaces for children and youth to open up, heal, and
grow. With extensive experience working with young people, individuals affected by substance use, stigma, and social neglect, I have consistently demonstrated a deep commitment to
restoring dignity and hope in the communities. Mywork integrates counseling, mentorship, and life-skills empowerment,
helping individuals not only cope with challenges but also
discover purpose and resilience. I've served as a Lead Mentor under the DREAMS USAID program, whereI supervised and guided a team of 21 mentors, showcasing my strong leadership and coordination skills. In addition, I have contributed as an HTS counselor, financial literacy trainer, and mental health advocate across the Kiambu region, reaching diverse groups with impactful interventions. Velma has represented youth voices on international platforms, including the Afri-Asia Summit in Kenya and the East Africa Youth Forum in Tanzania. My advocacy efforts towards mental health awareness inspirations,authorship of “The Best is Yet to Come: Arise and Make a Difference.”
Driven by a vision to empower, transform, and bring hope,I continue to champion mental health awareness, breaking stigma and inspiring communities to embrace healing, resilience, and positive change.
